Why egg cups? Why not egg cups? I have no idea why they appeal to me, but they do. I don't actually eat boiled eggs but I like the receptacles for them. I can't remember how it started or which egg cup came along first,it just happened and didn't stop happening. I now have hundreds of the buggers and not all are represented here, yet. They are small individually, but as a group they do start to take up quite a  bit of space. I like the variety of shapes, colours and materials and initially I did pick up every one that I found but soon realised that one has to be a bit selective, just a bit. Now I generally only add new ones where there is a backstamp, the plain unmarked ones are mostly anonymous and not much fun to collect, there are exceptions though so I am not totally insistant on a makers name being present. I try to keep away from the cheap and nasty egg cups but inevitably a few creep in, or have done in the past. I do try now to be more selective so not every one that I see do I buy. My adage of 'nice things at good prices' still pervades my collecting thought. It is just too easy to find expensive examples but it takes a lot of work and time to discover the gems at bargain basement prices. I do not want every egg cup that has ever been made, just the nice ones at the right prices. I do occasionally push the boat out and pay quite a bit for an example but I try not to make it a habit...
