This is a fabulous and rare treen two-part string barrel that would probably have been given away by the James Hole Brewery (Newark, Notts) sales representative to customers as a bit of a thank you. Great colour and the printed words date it to 1889. I got it from an antique fair that I attended on a day when the rain came down like a tropical storm. I think the public stayed at home which is why the seller dropped the price from £75 to £42 - a bargain. I've seen one other for £20 but it was badly damaged.
