This is an old game, sometimes called 'The Tower of Hanoi' and those of you with a long Doctor Who memory will recall the game being used as a challenge for The Doctor (William Hartnell I think, but don't shout at me if I'm wrong) by a foe called something like Padma Sambarvar (I'm probably wrong again - that is memory for you, and probably the spelling?). The game requires you to move the stack of discs from the peg it is on to another peg but with each move you cannot place a larger disc over a smaller one. It takes over 200 moves to complete and if you don't concentrate you can easily get lost from where you are in the process. Dr Who could not make one false move or dire conseqences would follow..he managed it of course. This toy came from a car boot at Hayle Rugby Club ground in Cornwall (Sunday mornings if you are ever in the vicinity).
